Hiring Process
You want to apply for a tour guide job? That’s great news! In this article, we’ll walk you through the steps so you know exactly what to expect when you apply for a job at Maresia.
Step 1: Getting started
Applying to be a guide with us starts with a straightforward online form where you’ll answer a few basic questions to get started. We’ve kept this part simple because what matters most to us is your video responses after completing the form.
As a guide, storytelling is at the heart of what you’ll do. So instead of relying on a traditional CV or written answers, we want to see how you connect through spoken words. No guiding experience? No problem. What we’re looking for is personality, enthusiasm, and the ability to tell a great story.
This video interview might be a bit unconventional, it’s one-sided, meaning you’ll record your answers without a live interviewer on the other end. If this feels awkward at first, don’t worry. Think of it as a preview of working as a tour guide, where you’ll be sharing stories without direct eye contact with your audience. It’s a chance to show us your storytelling skills!
We won’t sugarcoat it—this phase can feel challenging, but if you approach it with energy and authenticity, you’ll be off to a good start. So, take a deep breath, and give it your best shot. You’ve got this!

Step 2: Live interview
If we decide to move forward with your application, you’ll be invited to a live interview. It’s a chance for us to get to know you better through a mix of relaxed conversation and a few challenging questions.
The best part? There’s no need to stress about getting to a location or dealing with traffic—you can join us comfortably from your own home.
If you speak additional languages and listed them in the application form, we might test your language skills during the interview or schedule a separate time for that. It’s important to us that you accurately reflect your proficiency since you may work with native speakers in those languages.
The length of the interview can vary depending on the number of languages we’ll cover. To help you plan, we recommend setting aside at least 90 minutes. It’s very likely the interview will be wrapped up sooner, but this will allow you to participate without worrying about the time.

Step 3: You are hired!
You got hired? That’s fantastic news! What’s next?
Once you’ve received the good news of being hired, the next big step is to join our training weekend at a location in Europe.
Over these two days, you’ll dive into the essentials and build a strong foundation for your role. You’ll explore key aspects of being a tour guide, from storytelling to mastering other essential skills. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to meet some of your future colleagues and discover a new destination.
